It is definitely important to research and monitor the effectivness of a new teaching method. My research is actually pretty similar. I am wondering though, what new method is your school using? Is this the first year of implementation? Your plan looks good and I look forward to following your journey. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHey Lori. Thanks for following. The new method is based on a book called, 'The Fundamental Five'. In a nutshell, it has you start by framing the lesson, which is done by posting a clear objective for the students and also post how they will be able to show they learned that objective. The next part is chunking your class time between teacher talk time and student discussion. The teacher talks or teaches for 10-15 minutes and then students discuss a preplanned seed question for 1-3 minutes. The teacher has to be moving around the classroom, which is called 'the power-zone'. The last step is the use of critical writing in all subjects. This is our first year of implementation but so far so good. Thanks again for taking time to look over my plan. I'll be following you as well. Good luck to you as well.
DeleteEverything looks great. I suggest you go ahead and put what your teaching method is in your goal. I like how you will be gathering both qualitative data and quantitative data. Good Luck, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for looking it over and for the suggestion. Very good idea about putting a name to the method in the goal. Who knows, others may already be using it and could give me their thoughts and feedback.
